It’s depressing how many honest/serious answers there are in the notes to this. so much pointless sadness. For the record I said earlier I would vote for Zod because I truly respect his political platform.

turning these events back into a “wow. that’s not american. he wants to divide us. we’re one nation!” (as the obama campaign and media have already begun to do) is pretty much a fascist movement. this is what happens in liberal democracy today. when the poor are made visible or at least alluded to in discourse, their pain and condition is soon fed back into conservative ideas of nationhood.
same thing happens in the uk. the appearance of peoples who are unrepresented in popular discourse are fed into worrying ideas of nationhood. all too often leftists get trapped in this by arguing “oh how do we fit these people into modern day britain. they are neglected in our country” rather than recognizing the segregation which has taken place. you are left wondering what sort of events will actually make peoples visible in a way which doesn’t generate a conservative reaction.
this is a fucking terrifying phenomena that not only keeps occurring but is also intensifying. too many of us fall for this game.

It was Scahill calling Obama a murderer on Chris Hayes’ cable chat show that riled the president’s fans. According to them, kill lists, drone warfare, and targeting American citizens are traditional liberal values.
I agree. Mainstream liberalism sits atop numerous mass graves, creating many more. Why pretend otherwise? Especially in America?
The Obama campaign sure isn’t, confident that its brazen endorsement of state terror will win votes. Again, no argument. When your chief demographic is fully in line, you don’t need to be clever. It’s one area of American politics where honesty works.
