cartoonist uses cartoon to display at-best-cartoonish understanding of complex dance of taxes, war, tax cheating, and State propaganda (especially in re: Austerity/NeoLiberalism); Liberals and Libertarians hold hands and get excited over a cheap point confirming whatever it is they believed before anyway, everyone still loses. As he escorted us back down the market street to our bus, one soldier off-handedly remarked that he’d heard the village might be redesigned soon as a Spanish-speaking environment—before hastily and somewhat nervously adding that he didn’t know for sure, and, anyway, it probably wasn’t true.
